About

This Gallery provides access to the datasets and maps listed in the AB 525 Strategic Plan- Chapter 5: Sea Space for Offshore Wind Development. The sea space maps in the AB 525 Strategic Plan are presented here for data exploration purposes. Each dataset used in the AB 525 Sea Space analysis is listed in the Datasets folder of this gallery.

Note: Chapter 5 figures 5-5, 5-6, 5-7 are not included in this Gallery because those maps are sourced from the California Offshore Wind Energy Modeling Platform, visit the following webpage to view those maps: https://osw.eemsonline.org/

Background

AB 525 statute requires the CEC to provide a strategic plan. The strategic plan shall include, at a minimum, the following five chapters:

  1. Identification of potential suitable sea space for future lease process
  2. Economic and workforce development and identification of port space and infrastructure
  3. Transmission planning
  4. Permitting processes and the Permitting Roadmap
  5. Potential impacts on coastal resources, fisheries, Native American and Indigenous peoples, and national defense, and strategies for addressing those potential impacts

The report was published June 2024:

  • Volume I: Overview of AB 525 Strategic Plan
  • Volume II: AB 525 Strategic Plan
  • Volume III: Appendices for AB 525 Strategic Plan
